Burns vs Heworth

Burn continued to put pressure on Hemingbrough at the top of Division
One with another solid victory at Linnet Park on Saturday.

For the first time in 4 matches Burn did not lose a wicket in the
opening over but Boo Adamson fell shortly after - clearly still
hampered by his broken finger from the week before.

But this allowed skipper Ed Clark to join Lee Adamson at the crease
and the pair forged an impressive partnership before Clark was bowled
for 86. Adamson continued to have success but was eventually caught
behind for 76.

This allowed the teenage pairing of Adam Prescott and Tom Rich to take
over the reins. Prescott smashed a quick-fire 50 while ably assisted
by Rich who reached 24 not out by the end of 40 overs leaving the home
side with a fine total of 267 for 3.

Despite Heworth having lost every game so far this season they did not
lie down and provided some excellent rearguard. Opener Sykes was the
most impressive reaching 95 before finally being bowled by Prescott in
the 39th over. However the visitors never looked like mounting a
serious challenge to Burn's total and finished 73 runs short on 194
for 8. All the Burn bowlers chipped in with wickets, with Prescott
finishing on 3 for 34 and Graeme Parker fielding two run-outs.

Next week sees Burn face Barmby Moor at home on Saturday in Division
One before the HPH Cup final versus Hemingbrough on Sunday played at
Heworth.
